Using Marmot™

Start Marmot™ by selecting Start|Programs|Marmot|Marmot from the task bar on the Windows platform.

Burrows

Marmot stores data in one or more tree structures called burrows. An example burrow is pre-installed. You can create your own burrow by selecting File|New|New Burrow... from the pull-down menu and selecting a new path or a path with existing resources on your hard drive.

Resources

Each element of data stored in a burrow is a resource. Resources of any type can be stored as children of any type. Marmot supports several types of resources, such as text resources and electronic business card resources. See the complete list of resource types supported.

You may create a new resource by selecting a burrow or a resource and then selecting File|New Resource.... The new resource will be added as a child of the selected burrow or resource. Every resource can have children—even the child resources themselves.

You may move a resource by first selecting the resource and then dragging and dropping the resource in another area of the tree using the mouse.

Context Menus

Each resource has a context menu allowing special operations to be performed on that resource. The context menu may be accessed in various ways, depending on the system. On the Windows platform, for example, the context menu is accessible by right-clicking a resource with the mouse.
